A School Board is supposed to promote and support public education. Of late, our board has been more focused on personal ideologies than on making our district the best place to learn and work.
As an educator with 28 years of experience in education, 19 of which have been in Garfield Re2, it is imperative that our board starts working with our district instead of against it.
I am a lifelong member of the Garfield Re-2 community, a proud graduate of Rifle High School, and dedicated advocate for public education.
For 19 years, I was a teacher in the Garfield Re-2 School District, building strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Today, I continue to support local educators through my work with BOCES, collaborating to strengthen programs and expand opportunities for all learners.
I am a passionate supporter of equitable access to education, and committed to ensuring that every student — from those needing extra support to those performing above grade level — have the resources and encouragement to thrive. I have championed innovative instructional practices, advanced opportunities for gifted learners, and fostered partnerships that benefit the entire school community.
I believe that strong schools are the heart of a strong community and I am ready to bring my experience, collaborative spirit, and deep-rooted commitment to service to the Garfield Re-2 School Board.
I am a first-generation college graduate and a lifelong learner. I have a Master’s in Curriculum and Development from the University of Phoenix and a Master’s in Gifted Education from Regis University. More importantly, I hear the concerns from educators and families and I can hit the ground running from the day I am elected. I know the issues, I know the terms, and I understand the systems.
